A Little Bio...

Buongiorno a tutti! Thank you for visiting Calcio In Heels – your presence is appreciated. Let me tell you a little story…

Thirteen years ago, I suffered a broke vertebrae to my lower back. It was painful beyond words, and the doctors kept telling me I was imagining the pain. There were often days where I could barely walk, let alone play football in the streets with my brother and his friends.

Instead, I was forced to watch the Beautiful Game from the comfort of my couch. Thankfully, I had my dad by my side and his alliance to AC Milan meant that I immediately fell in love with the red and black stripes, and Italian football. Who could blame me? The team was plagued full of talent!

As I watched the Rossoneri week-in and week-out, I decided to put my other passion to use – writing. Through the combination of my love for football and my ability to write, I formed Calcio In Heels a decade ago.

It was through my blog where I got scouted to write part-time for Football Italia, and the old Calcio Italia magazine, and soon after obtaining a degree in English and Communications, I was permanently employed by a South African publication, Backpage Media.

I spent three seasons with BPM before being signed up by South Africa’s biggest newspaper, Soccer Laduma. There, I was appointed an editorial head of one of the divisions on the website, while also working as a feature writer in the international section of the paper.

Over the course of the past six seasons, I have been very fortunate enough to interview some of the biggest names in the business (click here for Notable Interviews), and won’t stop there.

My work can predominantly be found in Soccer Laduma, Football Italia and Soccer360, while I also occasionally make the odd radio and television appearance.

In hindsight, while I may not have realized it at the time, my broken vertebrae was probably the single most defining factor in how I landed up choosing the avenue of football journalism.

Should you wish to get in touch with me, please head over to the contact section, I will get back to you as soon as possible.
